Swedish Massage

The type of Swedish massage that I practice was first devised in the early 19th Century by the Swedish physiologist Per Henrik Ling and includes the techniques of effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), friction (pressure), percussion (striking) and vibration (using the fingertips).

Potential benefits of Swedish massage include:

  • Relaxation of body and mind
  • Promotion of a sense of well being
  • Better quality of sleep
  • Stimulation of circulation
  • Detoxification
  • Improved skin condition
  • Tonification
  • Greater range of movement and flexibility
  • Pain relief
  • Injury prevention
  • Invigoration.

To learn more about how the different massage techniques can benefit you, see my blog post about it. If you are interested in trying a Swedish massage or would like to find out more about it, do get in touch on 07528 708650 or at wendy@rookeholistic.co.uk.
